Albuquerque Sign Language Academy (ASLA) held its first community clean-up event on December 13, 2025. The team met at ASLA in the morning and then split into two crews to clean up Columbus Park and Valley Park Rd after the Los Griegos Neighborhood Association identified these two parks as places that could use a clean-up. The event attracted 6 volunteers and 6 ASLA students. The 6 volunteers included one gentleman who had seen our post on Instagram and wanted to come and help, 4 ASLA staff members and one teenager that was one of the ASLA student’s brother. The crew of 6 at Columbus Park collected 24 bags of trash and leaves. They worked on clearing the pathways and fences that bordered the courts. The crew of 6 at Valley Park Rd collected 14 bags of trash and leaves. They worked to clear accumulation on the back fence as well as a heavy leaf area along the parking lane.
